Dear Families,
Maths Olympics
4 of our Year 6 children have been to Manchester today to take part in the very exciting Maths Olympics. The children are set challenges and tasks and are competing against other schools. Mrs McConvey and myself are quietly hopeful that our children will absolutely love the challenges as they are so confident with maths and amaze us with their maths skills.
We’ve just heard from Mrs McConvey and the children came overall third! Well done to all of you. We’ll put more information on Dojo or in next week’s newsletter once I’ve had a chance to talk to them.
First Aid Training
This week, all of our KS2 children have received First Aid training. They had a lot of fun learning about how to care for people. Some of the training was about putting people into the recovery position, how to deal with choking, what to do if someone is bleeding and what to do if someone gets burnt. They also took part in CPR training.
Thank you to the PTA for funding this really important learning for our children.
WhatsApp
Although WhatsApp is for children over 13, we’re well aware that some of our older children are in WhatsApp groups. Over time, we have seen a rise in online conflicts that carry over into school, which causes upset for both children and parents. We would appreciate your help in monitoring your child's online activity to ensure their digital interactions remain positive and do not disrupt their learning or wellbeing at school. Below are two links that support you as parents to set up ‘parent-managed’ accounts. Parents can pair their device/account to the child's device/account which then gives a lot of flexibility such as:
-
No 'view once' messages.
-
No location sharing.
-
Messages and group invites from unknown contacts sent to the parent for approval.
-
Parent notifications, such as new contact added.

Have a lovely weekend everyone.
Thank you as ever for your continued support.
Take care and stay safe.
