Dear Families,

Emergency procedures
This week we had a fire drill.  All of the children responded very well to the alarm and followed the rules.  Mr Gidman pretended to be the fire!  All classes avoided him.  We have fire drills at least four times over the year.  We also have evacuation and lockdown drills throughout the year to ensure that the children know our emergency procedures.

Should we need to go into a lockdown, we will follow the guidance from the emergency services.  We will not be able to let any visitors/parents into the premises until we have the all clear from the emergency services.  We will contact parents as soon as we are able to.

If we have to evacuate the school, our emergency place to go to is The Coppice which is located just down the road on Abbots Way.  We are their emergency place should they need to evacuate.  Once we get there, we will be able to contact parents.

School Photos
These are next Wednesday 23rd September.  If your child has PE, then they can come in school uniform and get changed into PE kits later.  The younger children will have their photos taken first, before any food is consumed!

School assemblies
On Monday mornings, we have an assembly at 9am.  The assembly welcomes children to school for the week and then focuses on a theme.  Throughout the year, there will be a lot of time dedicated to the word ‘consent’ and what it means along with bringing awareness to online safety and being healthy - both in body and mind.  There will also be lessons throughout the year dedicated to these themes.

Dougie Mac fundraising
On  Thursday 8th October 9am - 10am, we will be holding our annual Dougie Mac coffee & cake morning.  Family and friends are welcome to come along to support this very worthwhile cause whilst enjoying a brew and cake with your child.

Please can donations of cakes be brought into school on Wednesday 7th October.

If you can’t make this then don’t worry, children can bring their donations for a cake and still enjoy a treat during the morning.

New Families
We are still enjoying welcoming new families to Friarswood.  Thank you so much to all of you for sharing your positive views about us.  The new families have all said that they have chosen Friarswood because of their friends or colleagues speaking so highly about us.  Thank you.
