Dear Families,
We’ve got to the end of our first half term just in time for the colder and wet weather to start. Don’t forget that the clocks go back an hour this weekend. An extra hour in bed on Sunday morning!
Hallowe’en Disco
Thank you to everyone who came along and supported the PTA disco. It was great to see so many children dressed up and having so much fun. The DJ was great and certainly got the children showing off their dance moves (and some parents too!).
Parking on Abbots Way
Unfortunately, we still have some parents who are not parking and driving safely. Some people are parking over the pavement so families are unable to walk along the pavements safely. Some parents are parking on the yellow lines making it very unsafe for families to cross the road. This inconsiderate parking and driving is causing a lot of anger with families and neighbours.
Please consider how you park and drive near our school. We’ve already had one accident, we do not want any further incidents.

SEND parents
Everyone has been sent their child’s pupil passport. Thank you to those parents who have completed the parent section. For those of you who have not yet done this, please can you read through, comment and sign and return to school to their class teacher after half term.
A bit of sad news!
Ms French, one of our teaching assistants is leaving on the 6th November to move to a different job. She will be working directly with children with autism. She will be missed by so many of our children and staff. We wish her well with this next stage of her career.
Dogs on school grounds
Please can I remind you all that although it is lovely to walk your dog to and from school, no dogs are allowed on the school grounds. However, you are welcome to tie their lead to the fence away from the main entrance/exit points. Thank you.
I received this message yesterday from Newcastle Food Bank which is so lovely and which I need to share with you. The certificate has been posted on Dojo.
Dear Friarswood Primary,
What a remarkable thing you have done.
Your kindness shows families in need that they matter. Your generosity provides friendship to people struggling with loneliness and isolation. Your compassion provides nutritious food parcels to people struggling to feed themselves.
That’s the difference your support makes. And I’m writing today to share my heartfelt gratitude to you for your very generous donation of 362.92 kg, which we received recently. The equivalent number of meals is an incredible 864 meals. Please find attached a certificate to express our gratitude to your School community.
Thank you for joining us in the movement to create a community free of hunger. We couldn't do this without you being part of our team, working together to change lives and futures. We are so thankful for your support.
Kind regards,
Ryan Wilshaw
Parents’ Evenings
Feedback from the parent survey last year showed that some of you asked for a fairer chance at booking the time slots, especially for working parents who don’t get a chance to see messages until the end of the working day. On Monday 2nd November at 6pm, we will be sending out a link on Dojo so that you can book a time slot that suits you.
