    Dear Parents and Carers,

Well, it’s finally here, the last day of the year.  What a year it’s been.  It has been so successful in so many ways.

Firstly we’ve managed to keep most children in school for the whole year without Covid impacting on the class.  The children settled so well back in September and have made enormous amounts of progress.  All of the extra support, the small groups of interventions and the constant reminders have certainly paid off.  We are one of the top performing Trust primary schools, which is great news!

So many children have taken part in official tests this year.

Year 1 made superb progress with their phonics and achieved super results.

Year 2 showed just how clever they are and performed so well with their SATs.

Year 4 took part in the first ever times table tests.  They had six seconds to answer the questions which just kept on coming at them!  Some of our children got full marks and some children missed out by just one or two marks.  Amazing effort from all of Year 4 who have consistently been practising their times tables this year.

Year 6 performed amazingly well in their Year 6 SATs.  Their progress from Year 2 has been fantastic and I couldn’t be more proud of them.  What a superstar class they are!

It’s certainly been a jam-packed year full of exciting challenges and adventures for our children.  Sadly, it’s now time to say ‘Good bye and good luck’ to our wonderful Year 6 cohort.  They are more than ready for the next stage of their learning journey.  They are clever, thoughtful, caring and have a wonderful sense of humour.  They are going to be missed by all at Friarswood.  Their high schools are definitely going to love having this group with them.

  • Leavers Assembly 2022

    Published 15/07/22

On Monday afternoon, our Year 6 took part in their last ever performance at Friarswood! Parents were invited in to watch and just see how they have grown whilst being here. It was very emotional! The children won awards for their amazing achievements which they all thoroughly deserved! The children also were able to choose a book to keep as a gift to move on with, these were kindly paid for by the PTA. They put on an excellent show. We would like to take this opportunity to thank the children and their parents, they have all been an absolute pleasure and we wish them all the very best for their journey moving onto high school.

    Dear Parents and Carers,

My main news is about our Year 6 children.  We’ve had their SATs results through and they have achieved some amazing results.  Considering what they’ve been through in the last couple of years, they have ‘smashed it’!  I am so proud of the children and their hard work and focus which they’ve shown.  A huge well done to Mrs Sharman and Ms Shaw who have supported the children so much this year.  I know they were over the moon when I told them the results.

Unfortunately, there are a few results which are ‘missing’.  This is something that is nationwide.  I will keep chasing this and will let parents know as soon as I hear anything.

  • Peak Wildlife Park Trip 2022

    Published 07/07/22

Our Year 3 class went on a school trip to Peak Wildlife park on Monday. When they first arrived they went to three different enclosures to listen to the keepers telling them about how the animals live and survive. They all found out so much about penguins, wallabies and lemurs. The children also had the chance to ask the keepers a lot of questions too! After that, they had lunch and then they were able to explore the rest of the animals in the park. The children really enjoyed seeing lots of different animals and their habitats. They had an amazing day!

The children took part in various activities in their classrooms to get a deeper understanding of this message. Some children made sparkly boxes to share with the class, wrote letters to the Odd Dog, shared their own power point presentations on being yourself and some even had a talent show! What a great day with the most important meaning of being happy – being you! #BeYourselfAlways
