  • Celebration of Learning March 2023

    Published 31/03/23

Just before we ended this term ready for the Easter break, we had a chance to invite our parents in to see just how busy our children have been this term. Our parents were able to join in with lessons (some were cooking and tasting!), to see their children’s work and their projects that they have been completing. It was very busy in every room which was so lovely to see. The Uniform Exchange was also out and our parents were able to take the next sizes of uniform as by now, the children have grow so much from when they started back in September! This is available everyday if any parents didn’t get the chance to stop and look. We really hope that everyone who came enjoyed the time in the classroom with their children, it was amazing to see the pride on everyone’s face. #DoWhatMattersMost #BeYourselfAlways #ShowYouCare #SucceedTogether

On the last day of this very busy term we had a day filled Easter fun! To start we went on a Easter egg hunt. The children worked in pairs to find all the eggs to solve the problem. They had to look all over the school grounds to find all the eggs they needed. The children got to complete a variety of Easter crafts in the classrooms and they got to share the decorated eggs that they had made at home and they found out the winners in our celebration assembly. Well done to:

    • Sienna – Year 2
    • Freddie – Year 3
    • Daniel – Year 4
    • Flo S – Year 5
    • Layla Rose – Year 6

We wish everyone a Happy holidays and we will see you all on Monday 17th April when our new term starts. Happy Easter!

  • Great British Spring Clean 2023

    Published 31/03/23

Our Year 1 class were very lucky to take part in this year’s Great British Spring Clean. We joined forces with NBC Green team and had a very special helper called Orinoco! Although it was a bit soggy (and muddy!) the children had a great time. They were able to find litter and dispose of it in a better way. They were brilliant and really enjoyed helping to keep Britain tidy. #DoWhatMattersMost

    Dear Parents / Carers,

    Year 5 Netball

Some of our Year 5 and 6 children took part in a netball tournament on Tuesday and were amazing!  They played so well as a team and showed off their netball skills, their confidence and their sporting attitudes.  I’m so proud to say that our team came 3rd out of 8 schools.  A huge well done to Evelyn, Mila, Gini, Anna-Frieda, Flo, Sienna, Georgia and Hattie.

    Small & Tall closed

A reminder that on Wednesday May 3rd, Small & Tall will be closed after school due to staff training.  We’re sorry for any inconvenience.

    Published 10/03/23

    Dear Parents / Carers,

I have to start this newsletter with a very special mention to some of our staff.

Some of the staff were nominated for Co-op Recognition Awards for their roles in school and the amazing work they do with the children.  A huge well done to Mrs Dean, Mrs Bebbington, Mrs Rafferty and Mrs Hughes.

On Friday night, we went to the awards evening in Manchester along with all of the other Co-op Academies.  There were lots of staff nominated in total but one of our amazing staff won the Co-op Community award.  A HUGE well done to Mrs Bebbington.  This is the second year that Mrs Bebington’s hard work and dedication to supporting the children and the community has been awarded.  I can’t thank Mrs Bebbington enough for her outstanding role at Friarswood.  There are pictures of the night on Twitter and Facebook.

  • Fairtrade Cooking Class for The Macari Centre 2023

    Published 10/03/23

Our children had the opportunity to join Mrs Bebbington for a cooking class with a difference for Fairtrade Fortnight. This time our children used Fairtrade ingredients to make some delicious chocolate chip cupcakes topped with a Fairtrade Malteser! They all had one to take home (to test, of course!) and the rest were donated to our local homeless shelter to brighten someone else’s day with a sweet treat. The children were amazing at following the recipe and baking the cakes with very little help. They were brilliant! Thank you to those who gave up their own time to take part. #ShowYouCare

    Dear Parents/ Carers,

Welcome back after half term.  I hope you all managed some time with your family and friends.

On Monday, our KS2 children had an assembly linked to CRL (careers related learning).  It focused on the labour market index (LMI).

The children identified job prospects in the area and we discussed what skills they need for later on in life.  We identified the many areas of school life which help the children to build these skills such as teamwork, resilience, listening and speaking skills, problem solving and aiming high.  The children responded so well and were confident at identifying which skills they already possess, which was great.  I’m so proud that we have so many children with very high aspirations.

  • Fairtrade Bake Off and Cake Sale 2023

    Published 03/03/23

To raise awareness for Fairtrade, we have taken part in this year’s Fairtrade Fortnight. As part of this we had a Fairtrade bake off, where children could use Fairtrade ingredients to create a delicious bake, and we can confirm that they were extremely yummy! Theses cakes were then used in a coffee and cake sale on World Book Day to raise money for new reading materials for the children across the school. This was a big success and very well attended! Thank you so much for everyone’s support with this. #DoWhatMattersMost
