Newlsetter – July Week 1

Dear Parents / Carers,
Years 5 & 6

Last Friday, Years 5 and 6 had such an exciting day at Keele University.  They took part in a range of activities in the science labs including using microscopes to look at daphnia and shrimp.  They made and tested rocket cars.  Looked to see what was actually in owl pellets – some children loved finding the skulls and bones of the owl’s tea!  And they learnt about animal and flower cells.  We even had the chance to look at 3 week old bats which had fallen from the tree.  One of the scientists is qualified to look after the baby bats until they can be returned back to their roost so we were really lucky for this rare opportunity.

For Parents – Apps to Help Kids Get Active

In this beautiful weather we’re having and with the summer break just around the corner it’s important that we all get outside and soak up the goodness. This can be difficult for parents whose children seem super-glued to their devices so Internet Matters have put together a useful advice page with a list of different apps for children of all ages to get them motivated. You can find the advice page HERE.

Year 3

Mrs O’Hara has had a lovely first week with the children. She’s been very impressed with their singing skills whilst practising for the summer show.

PTA Summer Fair

A huge thank you in advance to the PTA for all of their time and effort over the last few months/weeks/days/hours for getting the fair ready.  It promises to be a fantastic event thanks to their dedication and hard work.  And they’ve even booked the sunshine for us too!  We’ll see you all later.

Thank you as ever for your support.

Take care and stay safe.

Mrs Wilmer
