Newsletter – Week 2

Dear Parents / Carers,
Due to not getting back until home time last Friday, I wasn’t able to tell you about the superb Year 3 trip to Amerton Farm. The children learnt so much about animals as well as learning about drawing and painting using Stone Age methods. The children produced some amazing art work all from a dandelion flower, nettle leaf, elderberries and charcoal. We had such a super day and it certainly helped our wellbeing. Thank you Year 3 for inviting me.
I had the pleasure of teaching Year 1 on Tuesday afternoon. We talked about our aspirations for when we’re older. The children were so excited when they told me that they wanted to be a vet, police officer, firefighter and even an olympic swimmer, along with many more ideas. Louie, Ruby, Jack and Luca produced some wonderful pictures.
Parking along Abbots Way
Please can I ask that you park safely and legally along Abbots Way. There should be no cars on the yellow lines and access to drives should not be blocked. We’re having a growing number of complaints about this. Thank you for your support with this issue.
Jewellery
Just a reminder that the only jewellery allowed in school is a watch and a pair of small stud earrings. No jewellery can be worn for PE, which includes swimming. Earrings cannot have a plaster over them during PE sessions.
Late to school
Now that restrictions have been lifted, if a child is late to school, the parent must come into the main entrance to sign the register for their child.
INSETs
We have confirmed 2 INSET days on Wednesday 20th July and Thursday 21st July. The last day for children in the summer is Tuesday 19th July.
We have another 2 INSET days which have yet to be confirmed.
(INSET days are staff training days)
Dates for the terms are on the website for this year and for next year.
Open Morning for new parents
We are pleased to announce that we will be holding open mornings for children of nursery age and those children who are due to start Reception class in September 2022. Please see the website for more details.
Uniform Exchange Shop
We all know just how expensive school uniforms can be and how quickly our young children grow! Here at Co-op Academy Friarswood, we are very conscious of these things but also about looking after our planet. We think that uniform needs to be used for as long as possible to avoid any unnecessary waste going into landfill. To avoid this from happening, every Monday there will be a Uniform Exchange Shop set up under the junior’s veranda. Please come and take whatever your child needs as they grow. There is no charge for any uniform taken and our only request is that you please donate any uniform that no longer fits or is being used, so that it can be used by another family. This ensures that the maximum use is met before any waste. If you have any uniform at home that is no longer needed, please send this in to the office labelled to Mrs Bebbington. We hope this will be very helpful to everyone and most importantly our planet!
