Newsletter – April Week 4

Dear Parents / Carers,

This week has been very busy.  We’ve been observing and interviewing teachers for the SENDCo role.

I’ve been showing teachers around to cover Mrs Rafferty’s maternity leave.  As soon as we have found the right person, I’ll let you know.

This week I have been sent the following online safety information which you may find useful.

For Parents – Gaming

We all know that gaming is a hugely popular activity for a number of different reasons, e.g. socialisation, coping mechanism, skill building and much more. Many games are not appropriate for children and plenty of parents struggle with this. Internet Matters have put a guide together which details some alternative games beyond the most popular ones and promoting gaming as a family affair. There are games from 3+ upwards so there’s something for everyone. You can download the guide HERE.

Additionally, Andy Robertson from Ask About Games has some family guides which parents will find really useful. You can find all the guides HERE.

Year 3 and 4 football.

Well done to the boys who played football at Chesterton on Monday.  They won 2 games and lost 1.  They played so well as a team and Mrs Sharman was very impressed with the teamwork and skills shown.  Well done to Sam, Leo, Stanley, Daniel, Seb, Jack, Henry and William.

Year 1

Yesterday, Year 1 was very lucky and welcomed a special visitor.

Ginny, one of our parents came to talk to the children about Judaism and in particular, one of the important religious festivals in the Jewish calendar – Passover.  The children tried a range of food and had lots of fun.  A massive thank you from us all!

Year 6

Yesterday, Year 6 had a maths day.  The children had lots of fun revising maths skills and showing off just how much they know about maths and numbers skills.  The tutors who came in were so impressed with their behaviour, their knowledge and their attitudes to learning.  Thank you Year 6 for being your wonderful selves.

On Tuesday, the tutors are coming in to have a fun day of writing.  I’m sure all of the Year 6 children will show off their amazing writing skills and imagination.
