Newsletter – October Week 2

Dear Parents / Carers,

Our website has lots of information about Friarswood.  The updated Child Protection and Safeguarding Policy is on the website along with our Careers Related Learning Policy and Programme.

If you require any further information, please just ask.

Harvest & non-school uniform

This year we would like to ask for donations of food, baby and hygiene items for Alice Charity.  For those of you who may not know, Alice supports families in our area who are struggling.  They also support these families with trying to find a job and with getting qualifications – which is amazing.

Alice Charity helps to move families in crisis forward from a dark place to a brighter future.

The items can be brought in at any time next week up to Thursday after school.

On Friday, we would like to ask children to come in their own Autumnal clothes to say a thank you for their donations.

If you would like to know more about Alice Charity, please click here.

Healthy Food

Please can we ask that children bring in healthy food for their packed lunches – as much as possible.  It’s becoming more noticeable that some children have a lot of chocolate, which although is very nice, doesn’t help children’s concentration and behaviour throughout the afternoon.  Thank you.

Swimming

Now that the weather is getting colder, we recommend children to bring in woolly hats for after their swimming session.

Small & Tall

Please can we ask that you contact Small & Tall if your child no longer needs their booked place.  We do have to charge for places that are booked and not used.

Cross Country

A massive well done to Ruben in Year 6 who took part in the primary schools cross country.  He came 4th out of 31 boys.  Fantastic running!

Hallowe’en Disco

You probably don’t need a reminder …. but it’s the PTA Hallowe’en Disco on Wednesday.  5:30pm for KS1 and early years and 6:30pm for KS2.  Definitely fancy dress but no scary masks.

There will be a room for parents to wait in with hot drinks.  We do ask that because of hot drinks, children stay in the hall not in the room with their parents.

Safeguarding

Some useful information has been sent through about online safety.

Online Safety Resources (by age)

Internet Matters are continually bringing out new, updated resources for schools and for parents. They have recently put together 3 useful pages which contain a parent pack, common online safety issues, top apps and platforms and a few resources, all split by age to make things easier. You can find a link to each page below:

Early Years – click HERE.

Primary – click HERE.

Secondary – click HERE.

Thank you as ever for your wonderful support.

Take care and stay safe.

Absences

Please report any absences on the first day of the absence to Mrs Dean on 01782 470401 (please leave a message if I am not in the office) or email angela.dean@coopacademies.co.uk .

If your child has sickness/diarrhoea they do require 48hours symptom free before they come back to school.
