Newsletter – July Week one

Dear Parents and Carers,
My main news is about our Year 6 children. We’ve had their SATs results through and they have achieved some amazing results. Considering what they’ve been through in the last couple of years, they have ‘smashed it’! I am so proud of the children and their hard work and focus which they’ve shown. A huge well done to Mrs Sharman and Ms Shaw who have supported the children so much this year. I know they were over the moon when I told them the results.
Unfortunately, there are a few results which are ‘missing’. This is something that is nationwide. I will keep chasing this and will let parents know as soon as I hear anything.
Small & Tall
You may remember that we should have had whole staff training a few weeks ago but due to Covid, we had to rearrange this. The training is now booked for Wednesday September 14th and Thursday 15th September. This will mean that Small & Tall is closed after school on both of these days.
All staff will be in the training sessions from 3:30pm to 6:30pm so will be unable to answer calls or emails after school on these days.
Main entrance gates
Please can you ask your children to not stand on the gates. The extra weight on the gates is causing several faults with them. Thank you.
Foodbank Collection
As it is the Summer break very soon, we know how difficult it can be for some families to have enough food over these holidays. This is why we will be having a food bank drive through the whole of next week. There will be donation points at the entrances of the school for any donations. If you have anything spare or can add a few extra items on your weekly shopping then this will go a long way for local families to cope. All donations will be taken to the Alice Charity – people’s pantry on Friday. Thank you in advance for your kindness. #ShowYouCare
Uniform Exchange
The Uniform exchange will be out all day, everyday next week for you to help yourself to the next sizes. This will then be taken into the Small & Tall entrance through the holidays. On the days that Small and Tall are open please feel free to come and take what you need and also donate any uniform that you will no longer need for another family to use. Just press the buzzer at the top gate to gain entrance. Let’s keep the uniform going to get the maximum use and keep it out of the landfill! #DoWhatMatterMost
Move up sessions
The children certainly had a good time with their new teachers. Year 6 enjoyed themselves at their new high schools. Year 2 will be spending time with Mrs Rafferty next week, who is now back off her maternity leave. I’m sure they’ll have a fun week.
Summer Holidays
For those of you using Small & Tall over the holidays, there will be fencing around the main entrance as we are having the boilers replaced. It will not stop access to Small & Tall. This work should take all of the holiday period.
Thank you as ever for your continued support. Have a lovely weekend.
Take care and stay safe.
