    Published 10/03/22

We have been blown away by the amazing entries from the Fairtrade Bake Off 2022 – I really don’t think Paul or Prue would have been able to choose a star baker from Friarswood! Everyone who took part used Fairtrade ingredients which were either provided by themselves or by us. There were some great ideas for cakes and sweet treats – Please take a look!

  • World Book Day 2022

    Published 04/03/22

This year each class chose how they wanted to celebrate World Book Day. We had a lot of children dressing up as favourite book characters or in their own bright clothing. We even some classes in their pyjamas with their favourite storybook to share! It was wonderful to see the whole school enjoying books, doing a variety of activities to celebrate how fantastic losing yourself in a book really is and that you really can read anything, anywhere!

Here are a few pictures of how each class chose to mark World Book Day 2022.

    Dear Parents / Carers,

    Careers Related Learning

A few weeks ago I asked if you could help our children to understand different job roles and how what they learn in school helps them to achieve a job when they’re older.  This was also an area which you scored low on the parent survey so we are hoping lots of you can support with this.

We are hoping that you can record yourself talking about your job, what you actually do, if you have a uniform and equipment and anything else which the children will find interesting.

This can be for just your child’s class or we can share it with other classes too.

Please can you send your recordings to laura.coleman@coopacademies.co.uk

Thank you for your hopeful support with this.

Today, we ended Children’s Mental Health Awareness Week with a ‘Dress to Express’ day. The children could come into school wearing what they really wanted, whether it was as a superhero, a princess, a footballer or just an outfit that makes them feel happy. The children all came into school with a huge smiles on their faces! They certainly had chosen well, expressing themselves in lots of different ways.

  • Mini Orchard Tree Planting

    Published 08/02/22

We have been really fortunate to secure a funded mini orchard from the local council. The trees arrived ready to be planted this week.

Thank you to our regular gardeners who helped in their break time club to sketch, plan and mark out our planting area and then attended our mini orchard planting on Monday after school.

The children have learnt a lot about bare root fruit trees and how to plant and care for them. More work will need be done this week in their break time club to provide the trees with a much needed mulch base and protection.

We all think they will be amazing to watch and hopefully grow some delicious fruit! We would like to say a big thank you to Mrs Shaw for her hard work in gardening club and for securing this great opportunity for our garden area in school. #DoWhatMattersMost #SucceedTogether

    Dear Parents / Carers,

    Year 6 Residential

The children have had a super time at Standon Bowers this week.  They have all taken part in the activities, even the ones they were a bit or a lot worried about.  They have shown fantastic examples of teamwork, resilience, support, care and so much enthusiasm.

It’s been lovely to see them out of their usual environment and having so much fun.  Some children have conquered their fears of caves and dark spaces, heights and abseiling, some children have found that they can solve problems using group ideas rather than just their own.  There has been so much laughter, which is just so good to hear.

And the night times – they have slept so well.  The staff can’t believe how well they have all slept – especially the boys.

Well done to the children for going out of their comfort zones and trying something new.

Thank you to Mrs Sharman, Ms Master and Mrs Shaw for organising and spending the time with the children and being away from your own families.  We all appreciate this dedication from you.

Thank you to the parents for helping to get everything ready for your children.  I hope you all had a lovely week and didn’t worry too much.
