Newsletter – March Week 3

Dear Parents / Carers,
I would like to say a MASSIVE thank you to everyone who donated so generously to the Ukraine appeal on Monday. It was amazing to see so many people getting involved. The children had an assembly on Monday about the Ukraine appeal and about appreciating what they have.
When we took the donated items to the drop off point in Newcastle, we ended up staying there to help pack everything in boxes as transport for the items was at lunchtime. I’m pleased to say that we did box everything up and your items were safely shipped off.

The following link has been sent for wellbeing tips and advice. It’s for parents and for young people too.
Career Related Learning (CRL)
You may recall a few weeks ago we asked if any parents could film themselves talking about their job and the skills they need for their job. Unfortunately, we’ve had very little interest in this. However, we have had parents asking if they could come into school and talk to the children. This would be amazing.
We are asking for just a few minutes of your time to talk to the children about your job, what skills you need and to discuss your uniform or equipment which you use. If you could spare a few minutes, please contact your teacher or myself.
At school, we are promoting CRL in every class. When we teach lessons, we also teach the children about why they need to learn these skills and how they will help them in life after Friarswood. As well as this being an important aspect of children’s understanding, we are also focusing on this as it was something which was highlighted as an area of improvement on your parent surveys.
Red Nose Day
Another huge thank you for your donations to this wonderful charity. We have raised £210, so many children will benefit from your support.
Visitors in school
Yesterday, we had some more visitors in school. They visited every classroom and spoke to some children to find out about what they’re learning. They were very impressed with the amount of progress our children are making and their positive attitude to learning. It was such a pleasure ‘showing off’ every class.
Have a lovely weekend everyone.
Take care and stay safe.
