Newsletter – November Week 3

Dear Parents / Carers,
This week, we have taken part in National Anti-Bullying week. The theme has been ‘One kind word’. The children have completed lots of activities and discussed this a great deal. The school council and their parents have reviewed the Anti-Bullying policy, which has been shared with the rest of the children. We’ve also had many children coming into school in odd socks, to show that we are all different and unique and above all we are all special.
Visitors in school
This week we have had visitors in school to focus on maths and writing. Everyone has commented on what super children we have. The children’s positive attitude to learning, their enthusiasm, their progress which is very evident in their books and the challenge which we present the children with was complemented by these people.
A huge thank you to the children who spoke to our visitors and explained all about their work and what they had been learning about.
Special shout outs to the following children for their amazing writing which is displayed in the main corridor.
Stanley in Nursery, Winnie in Reception, Grace in Year 1, Emelia in Year 2, Nora in Year 3, Millie in Year 4, Sienna in Year 5 and Leila in Year 6.
Long Service Awards
This week I have had the pleasure of awarding some of our staff with long service awards. Long service is for 10 years and over. The Co-op Academies Trust has awarded some of the staff with certificates and gold badges.
Congratulations to Mrs Sharman, Mrs Hughes, Mrs Bebbington, Dr Fletcher, Mrs Dean, Miss Goodwin and I also received one too.
Online safety
I’ve been sent the following link which some of you may find useful. Although it’s mainly geared towards parents with secondary school children, some parents of our older children may find this useful too.
AskTheAwkward
CEOP have released some new resources that may be useful for parents, including some help sheets and a few videos. AskTheAwkward is about helping with difficult conversations related to online relationships and is mainly geared towards secondary students.
You can find out more, including the download links HERE.

Children in Need
A huge thank you to everyone who has donated today. We’ve raised a massive £155.50 for this amazing charity.
Christmas Lunch Menu
This year the children will be having a Christmas lunch at school on Wednesday 8th December. Unfortunately it will just be for the children again this year but we will keep our fingers crossed that we will be able to invite Grandparents again next year. If your child normally has sandwiches but would like a Christmas lunch please could you let Mrs Dean know. This way the kitchen will be prepared for how many children they need to cater for. Lunches are payable on Parentpay.
Thank you as ever for your ongoing support.
Have a lovely weekend
Mrs Wilmer
