Newsletter – March Week 4

Dear Parents / Carers,
Thank you for all of your chocolate donations today. It looks like the Chocolate Bingo next week will be another busy bingo night.
It’s on Tuesday 28th March at 6pm.
Progress Reports
On Wednesday next week, you will receive your child’s progress report. The report shows the progress which your child has made since the Autumn term.
I’m so pleased that the vast majority of our children have made expected or better than expected progress in reading, writing, maths and grammar.
The report will show the standardised score which your child achieved. 100 is age related expectations.
If a child hasn’t made expected progress (in any year group) the teachers will have put some actions in place to ensure that the child works towards their expected results. If a teacher is concerned about a child and their progress, they will have spoken to you already.
Years 2 and 6 children took end of year SATs papers for their assessments. Please bear in mind that these tests were taken at the beginning of March, which means there’s another 2 ½ months of learning before the children take the actual SATs for this year.
SATs and other National Assessments
Year 6 will take their SATs the week beginning May 8th.
Year 2 will take their SATs in the last 2 weeks of term (weeks beginning 15th and 22nd May)
Year 4 will take their times tables tests between 5th and 16th June.
Year 1 will take their phonics tests the week beginning 12th June.
All of the children will have had lots of practice of these tests by the time they have to take them. All we ask from you, the parents, is that you keep listening to your child read, keep helping them with their times tables and keep helping them with their spellings and phonics. And of course, make sure they get a good night’s sleep as tired children struggle to concentrate during the day.
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact your teacher or myself.
Celebration of Learning
Just a reminder that on Tuesday 28th March at 2:15pm, you’re welcome to come in and celebrate your child’s learning with them. You’ll be able to look at their work, join in with some of their work and hopefully get a chance to chat to your teacher.
This is always such a lovely time for parents and for your children to show off their work.
Easter Egg Celebrations
Don’t forget that next Friday, all of the children can take part in the decorated egg competition. The children can bring their decorated eggs into school on the Friday morning. We will announce the winners in the celebration assembly in the afternoon. We will of course put photos on the website.
Thank you as ever for your support.
Have a lovely weekend.
Take care and stay safe.
