Newsletter – October Week 3

Dear Parents / Carers,
We have now arrived at the end of the first half term of the year. Although it’s been quite a long half term, with a lot of very tired young people, these wonderful people have shone. They have worked so hard and tried their best with all of the activities set for them. We’ve had so many of our children going ‘above and beyond’ both inside of school and outside of school which is amazing.
They thoroughly deserve a breather over half term, ready for the exciting half term and the run up to Christmas.
Harvest Donations
A huge thank you to everyone who has donated items for Alice Charity this week. In a time when everyone is being careful and everyone is feeling the ‘pinch’ your generosity has been overwhelming. So many families will benefit from the donations. You really have shown #dowhatmattersmost #showyoucare
The following has been set up by the Government which may be of help to you.
Help for Households
The Government has launched the ‘Help for Households’ scheme. The homepage brings together over 40 support schemes that the public can access, depending on eligibility, including help with:
- Household costs ‘Help for Households’
- Energy Bills
- Childcare costs
- Income support
- Transport costs
Additionally, a range of online tools will help citizens quickly and efficiently check the support they might be eligible for and how to access it.
Rotary Club Donations
A massive thank you to Newcastle Rotary Club (and especially Mrs Carlisle) who have donated lots of lovely books for all of our children.
We will put the books out after half term so that you and your child can choose a book for home.
Cyber security activities for you and your children at home.
I’ve been sent some information for parents to help with cyber security.
Internet Matters have put together a really good, simple article so that parents can learn more about cyber security which you can access HERE. There is also Cyber Sprinters for children aged 7-11, it might also be useful to send this out to parents so that they can go through the resources together. You can find further details of Cyber Sprinters HERE.
PTA Disco
Thank you to everyone who came along and supported the PTA disco. It was so lovely to see the children and parents back together again, enjoying themselves and having so much fun. A whopping £866.77 was raised.
Thank you to all the parents who arranged this, set up, cleaned up and made it such a success.
The money raised by the PTA gets spent directly on the children. Funds usually provide the extra ‘bits’ which the school budget simply cannot afford.
Kitchen Menu
After half term the kitchen menu is changing. Below is the link to the new menu.

And finally and a HUGE well done to Ruben in Year 6. He took part in the local schools’ cross country event on Tuesday and came 4th out of over 30 runners. What a superstar you are! We’re so proud of you.
Have a lovely half term everyone.
Stay safe and take care.
