Newsletter – September Week 4

Dear Parents / Carers,

What a wet and cold week it’s been!

We’ve had the Year 3 classroom painted and the boiler work is still ongoing.  The next area of painting will be the KS2 corridor during half term.

PTA Meeting

Thursday 6th October 3:30 in the School Hall

Welcome to the new school year and welcome to the hub of our school social and fundraising life – the PTA.

As family members of children at our school you are all automatically members of the PTA. If you would like to be more involved in planning, organising and running exciting events for our children please come along to our meeting next Thursday – we’d love to meet you and hear your ideas.

At the meeting we will be electing new officials to the committee who runs the PTA – a chair, vice-chair, secretary and treasurer. We also need lots of enthusiastic helpers!

Please complete the attached form to let me know if you will be coming to the meeting, if you are interested in any of the officer posts and how many children you’ll have with you (we will be offering a creche)

You will be under no pressure to commit to anything more than you feel able and many hands make light work so please come along and see what it’s all about and hear how you can help make a difference!

PTA form

Holidays during term time

Please can I remind you that holidays during term time are unauthorised unless there are exceptional circumstances. This is statutory guidance and not a school decision.

The forms to request a leave of absence are in the main entrance or you can email Mrs Dean to let her know and then she can send a form electronically to you.

You can still be issued a penalty notice if you don’t go through this system.  Please do not ask children to lie as this puts them in a very awkward position.

Eco Conference

On Tuesday our Eco Warriors were invited to an Eco conference based at Angel Square, Manchester. They had some wonderful ideas and will be working on projects over the coming months. Watch this space!

Year 6 trip

Yesterday, Year 6 walked to Keele observatory.  They met with an astronomer called Jacco who explained so many fascinating facts about the solar system.  I was particularly impressed with the questions the children asked about the stars and the planets.  Leila, Ruben and Ezra had clearly thought about their questions very carefully.  All of the children had a chance to see the sun through a special telescope which wouldn’t hurt their eyes.  We saw the sunspots and were amazed at how the clouds passing the sun changed the appearance on the telescope.

We also found out about the skills which an astronomer needs.  The children learnt all about his job and why he thoroughly loves doing what he does.

Well done Year 6 for being so attentive and thoughtful.

School Photographs

On Monday 10th October, we have the photographers in for school uniform photos.

They will set up in the library.  From 8am it will be open for any families wishing their children to have family photos.

Healthy Snacks

Just a reminder that children are welcome to bring healthy snacks into school but we do not allow crisps, sweets or chocolate for snacks.

Hometime Reminder

The end of the school day finishes at 3:15pm for Early Years children and 3:20pm for KS1 and KS2 children.

From Monday, if you are late collecting your child we will have to take them to the care club.  You will be charged for the after school session.

Although it is the end of the day for your child it isn’t for the teachers.  They have meetings and run clubs straight after school.  Some staff are constantly late for their meetings due to children being collected after 3:20pm.

If there is an issue with collecting your child on time, please contact Mrs Dean so that we can make provision for them.  Thank you.

Take care and stay safe.

Mrs Wilmer

Absences

Please report any absences on the first day of the absence to Mrs Dean on 01782 470401 (please leave a message if I am not in the office) or email angela.dean@coopacademies.co.uk .

If your child has sickness/diarrhoea they do require 48hours symptom free before they come back to school.
