Newsletter – June Week 3

Dear Parents / Carers,
We had a fantastic start to the week, our Yr 6 swimmers attended the Newcastle swimming gala and won every single race! They smashed it! They even broke previous records. I’m so proud of all of you. Huge congratulations to Freya, Eva and Nevaeh who won the medley relay and freestyle relay, breaking both records. Jackson, Bertie and Zak won the freestyle relay with 9/100ths off the record. So close! Poppy, Leila and Cooper won the surfboard relay.
Winners of all the individual races were;
Zak – backstroke
Leon – breaststroke
Jackson – freestyle
Eva – freestyle
Nevaeh – breaststroke
Freya – backstroke
We need to find a safe place for the trophy.
Everyone can sparkle day!
We celebrated Pride month on Thursday with ‘Everyone can Sparkle’ day. It was lovely to see the children dressed however they wanted to, showing off who they are. We celebrated everyone being unique, along with learning about relationships and how they can all be different.
Safety on the school grounds
Due to safeguarding reasons, the school gates will be opened from 8:30am to 9am and from 3:10pm to 4:15pm. If your child is in Small & Tall, then please use the buzzer on the top, main gate and one of the staff will open the gate for you. (They can do this from their room.)
Please do not let anyone else in if you don’t know who they are.
Thank you for your support with this.
Reading Books to be returned to school
Please can we ask that all children return any of their school books by Wednesday 6th July. (from early years to Year 6) Unfortunately any lost books will be charged at £5 per book due to the cost incurred by the school. Thank you.
Events coming up
End of Year report
Reports will be sent out the week beginning 11th July. I have had the pleasure of reading them and you will be so proud of your child. Considering everything they’ve had to cope with over the last couple of years, they have shown true grit and determination and made fabulous progress. Their attitude to learning and their enthusiasm in the lessons has been incredible. I really am in awe of them. I can’t wait for you to read how well they’ve achieved.
You will also receive your child’s attendance report too. Children with an attendance of less than 90% will be monitored going forwards as this shows a substantial loss of learning time.
Once you’ve read the reports, should you have any question or concerns please contact your teacher for an appointment on Thursday 14th July between 3:30 and 5:30pm.
If separated parents need a report each, please ensure your class teacher knows about this by Tuesday 5th July.
Transition Days
Next week, our Year 6 children will be visiting their high schools. I hope they all get on well and make some new friends.
On Tuesday, it is our ‘move-up’ morning. All of the children will start the day in their usual class, then they’ll spend the rest of the morning in their new class.
Sporting Events
On Thursday 7th July, some of our older children will be going to Northwood stadium for athletics. Fingers crossed for some more excellent results.
INSET days
Our last day of the term is Friday 15th July.
Children will start back to school on Wednesday 7th September.
Thank you as ever for your continued support.
Take care and stay safe.
