Newsletter – May Week 3

Dear Parents / Carers,
This week has seen our Year 2 children completing their special booklets. They have really impressed us all and we’re so proud of how well they worked in quiet conditions. We will be sending out the results of the KS1 SATs later on in the year with the children’s reports.
A huge thank you to all of the staff for supporting the children whilst taking their SATs (it’s something that is very controversial) and helping the children to make so much progress this year after everything they’ve been through over the last couple of years.
Safeguarding
Just as a reminder that should you have any concerns about a child and it is out of school hours, please phone Staffordshire Children’s Support and Advice Service (which used to be called First Response) 0300 111 8007.
If you think a child is in immediate danger and needs immediate help, please call the police on 999.
You do not have to give your name but please do make the phone call and give the details which you have. This could potentially save a child’s life.
During school hours, if you do not feel that you can contact the above numbers yourself, please contact either myself or Mrs Hartley on the below emails or on the school number.
lindsey.wilmer@coopacademies.co.uk
bev.hartley@coopacademies.co.uk
Due to safeguarding controls, Mrs Hartley is now the Designated Safeguarding Lead and I am the Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead. Headteachers need to oversee the safeguarding lead’s role which is why we’ve swapped roles. However, you can still contact either of us with any concerns.
Communication with school staff
It’s lovely that staff and families can communicate together using Tapestry and Class Dojo, but please can I ask that evening and weekend communications are limited. Staff need to have a break from ‘school life’ for their own wellbeing and to focus on their families as I am sure you can all understand. We obviously understand that there may be times when you feel it is urgent to contact a member of staff, but please don’t be offended if we do not answer until the next working day or even 48 hours after you’ve sent the message.
Any urgent messages during the day should be sent to the office rather than the teacher, due to them teaching throughout the day, at angela.dean@coopacademies.co.uk
Thank you for your understanding of this matter.
New contact information
If you’ve updated your mobile numbers, please can you let Mrs Dean know immediately so that we can update emergency contact details for your child.
The Big Plastic Count
Don’t forget to bring in your tally sheets on Monday so that the class can send their information. I personally am in shock at how much plastic is in my recycling bin. Hopefully, once this ‘project’ has finished and the Government has the figures from the schools, actions will be taken to reduce the amount of plastic packaging on items. (Fingers crossed!)
Jubilee Celebrations
We’re all looking forward to our special day on Thursday and do hope that lots of you can join us for our Jubilee picnic. The weather forecast is looking pretty good, so get your picnic blankets and chairs at the ready and don’t forget your picnics! And of course – there will be some singing!
Term Time Holidays
Unfortunately, I can not authorise any holidays during term time unless there is an exceptional circumstance. I completely understand the issue regarding high costs of holidays during school holiday times but financial reasons aren’t an exceptional circumstance. We do still need you to complete absence forms so that we have a signed record that you’re taking your child out of school during term time. This is not just for the purpose of the registers but for safeguarding reasons too. Forms are in the main entrance or you can contact Mrs Dean for a form.
All school term time dates up to Summer 2025 are on the website. INSET days (staff training days) are still to be confirmed for these years.
After half term, children come back to school on Tuesday 7th June.
Thank you as ever for your continued support.
Have a lovely weekend. Take care and stay safe.
Mrs Wilmer
Absences
Please report any absences on the first day of the absence to Mrs Dean on 01782 470401 (please leave a message if I am not in the office) or email angela.dean@coopacademies.co.uk .
If your child has sickness/diarrhoea they do require 48hours symptom free before they come back to school.
