Newsletter – May Week 2

Dear Parents / Carers,

I need to start this newsletter with a huge amount of praise for our Year 6 children.  After 2 years of upheaval due to Covid, our Year 6 children have taken their SATs this week.  They have been focused and extremely positive.  They showed resilience throughout each paper and they have certainly tried their best. We couldn’t have asked for any more off them.

A huge thank you to all of the staff who have supported Year 6.  Your dedication and support as well as your calm, positive attitude towards the SATs have really helped the children to stay calm and focused.

Year 3 swimming

Year 3 have one more swimming session next week.  After half term, they will be swimming from Thursday 16th June to Thursday 14th July.

Year 5 & 6 swimming

Year 6 will swim on Tuesday 14th May.

After half term, Year 5 and some of Year 6 will be swimming from Tuesday 14th June to Tuesday 12th July.  Mrs Sharman will contact parents of the Year 6 children who will be going swimming.

Jewellery in school

Please can I remind parents that our policy is that children can wear 1 pair of small stud earrings (no dangly earrings) and a watch.  No other jewellery is allowed, including fabric bracelets.

All jewellery / watches must be removed for all PE and swimming lessons due to health and safety.  Unfortunately, children will have to miss out on these sessions if they are unable to remove any jewellery.  Other activities will be provided for these children.

The Big Plastic Count

On Monday, our Big Plastic Count starts.  Children should have brought home their sheet of paper for their tally chart.  Each child can take part, even if there are several children in one household.  On Monday 23rd May, teachers will be logging the count on the website.

The children have been very enthusiastic about this so I’m really looking forward to finding out our results.

Pyjamarama Day

Small and Tall

A reminder that Monday is the last day of taking bookings for Small and Tall. Please contact Miss Sparkes on fria.smallandtall@coopacademies.co.uk if you need a place booking. They are open Monday 30th, Tuesday 31st May and Wednesday 1st June.

Regional Director visit

Today, we have had a visit from our Regional Director, Nick Lowry.  He has been finding out about how and what we teach with regards to safeguarding.  Several children from Year 5 and 4 met with him and spoke about online safety, safeguarding in school and who the children can talk to if they have any concerns.

The children were really sensible and answered the questions with a great deal of information.  It was really pleasing to know that all of the children were very confident at answering his questions and were able to explain just how much we do in school regarding this area.

Here is the link to the school website should you have any safeguarding concerns.  Here is the link to our website for online safety concerns.

Thank you as ever for your support.

Have a lovely weekend.

Take care and stay safe.
