Newsletter – March Week 5

Dear Parents/ Carers,

On Friday, we will be taking part in Easter activities both inside and outside.  Please can you make sure your child has appropriate footwear and clothing.  I’m really not sure if I should be asking for suntan lotion or for woolly hats!

Small & Tall

A reminder that on Wednesday 27th April and Thursday 28th April, Small and Tall will be closed after school to all children.  This is due to whole staff training.

Small & Tall is open during the Easter holidays; Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday of each week.  If you would like to book in please email fria.smallandtall@coopacademies.co.uk

Police Visit

On Wednesday, Years 5 and 6 had a visit from the armed police.  This was part of our CRL (Careers Related Learning).  The children had so much fun learning all about the role of the police and the equipment which some of the police have to use in their day to day job along with finding out all about police cars and sirens – which Mrs Dean became well accustomed to by the end of the afternoon!  The police officers were impressed by some very thoughtful questions off the children.

Thank you so much to the police officers who took time out of their busy schedule to come and talk to our very enthusiastic children.

Here are some comments from y5 about the police visit:

Emma – It was fun to do something different. I also found out lots of new things about the police.

Thomas M – I really enjoyed it because it unravels a whole new career for me and it was interesting to see all of the kit.

Harriet – I loved learning about all of the fascinating gear and loved the sirens. I didn’t know police did first aid!

Sofia – I really enjoyed the police visit because they clearly explained what they do. People sometimes think the police only handcuff criminals, but they do so much more than that.

Evelyn – It was fun to find out all of the things the police officers had.

Summer – I was really impressed that the police officers saw us today. It was really kind of them and the things they showed us were really cool.

Early Years Lead

Yesterday, the early years children got to meet Mrs Williams.  She thoroughly enjoyed her visit and can’t wait to visit again next week.

Swimming

Years 3 and 5 will continue next week with their swimming.  Swimming starts again straight after the Easter holidays for the same year groups.

Covid Update as of 1st April

Updated guidance will advise:

**adults with the symptoms of a respiratory infection, and who have a high temperature or feel unwell, should try to stay at home and avoid contact with other people until they feel well enough to resume normal activities and they no longer have a high temperature
**children and young people who are unwell and have a high temperature should stay at home and avoid contact with other people. They can go back to school, college or childcare when they no longer have a high temperature, and they are well enough to attend
**adults with a positive COVID-19 test result should try to stay at home and avoid contact with other people for 5 days, which is when they are most infectious. For children and young people aged 18 and under, the advice will be 3 days

You can read the full guidance here.

Have a lovely weekend everyone.
Thank you for your continued support.Mrs Wilmer
