On Wednesday, we welcomed our dad's and father figures into school to share a very special Father's Day lunch. The children were so happy showing their grown-up around and chatting away about their day so far! There was so much pride and lots of smiles around, it was wonderful to see. On Friday, 4 pupils from our year 6 class had the opportunity to put their maths skills to the test! They went head-to-head with 18 other Co-op Academy Trust schools in Manchester.  They were faced with lots of maths challenges and were amazing with each and every one! A huge well done to Jack, Alec, Will and Michael, who came 3rd place runners-up out of 18.  A brilliant achievement. We are very proud! #DoWhatMattersMost  #SucceedTogether 

A huge thank you to our volunteers who came to give our garden area and community garden a well-deserved glow-up! Working together in the heat wave over half-term to give both areas a fresh look for the children in school and getting our community garden another step closer to being finished and ready for local use. The volunteers were welcomed from Zebra, Water Plus, Co-op Food, CTRG and Biffa.

We are proud to announce our latest award for using restorative pathways to deal with behaviour in a way that works positively and helps to build the ongoing relationship needed for children to learn and grow. #SucceedTogether

On Wednesday, 4 of our Key Stage musicians, Libby, Elizabeth, Ben and Nora spent the day at Co-op’s Musician of the Year Semi-Finals Competition for Staffordshire, Stoke and the Wirral.

They took to the stage at The Mitchell Memorial Arts Centre in Hanley, rehearing and performing in the evening competition. There were 21 acts from both primary and secondary Co-op schools, with a range of singers, pianists, drummers and bands competing.

Ben, Elizabeth and Libby all performed their piano pieces with no music, so confidently and with such flare. Nora sang and played the piano beautifully.

They were enthusiastically supported by lots of their friends and family.

We are all so very proud of their resilience, musical talents and hard work!

There are two other semi-final competitions in the next few weeks in Manchester and Leeds, so we wait to hear if any of our musicians make it through to the Grand Final. Fingers crossed for a Friarswood Finalist!

What a brilliant trip for Year 1! Visiting Peak Wildlife Park to see real penguins is the perfect way to bring their learning to life.

It is great that Patrick was there to give a talk. Hearing all those interesting facts straight from an expert will make it so much fun for the children to write their own information pages. They will have plenty of exciting things to share!

Meeting the wallabies sounds like a wonderful extra treat. Getting to stroke them and see how friendly they are is a special, hands-on memory the children will definitely treasure.

Writing about a trip they loved is a perfect way to practice their writing skills.
