On Monday afternoon, it was time for our annual Key Stage 2 sports day. After being rained off twice, we finally got the perfect conditions for a sports competition! Everyone worked hard together in their house teams to take first, second or third place. The children showed great resilience, never giving up no matter what. We were super proud of everyone. Thank you to all the families who came along to support. It was a great afternoon with a feel-good atmosphere throughout. Well done KS2!

On Wednesday, Year 4 travelled back in time with a fantastic trip to the Deva Roman Experience in Chester to bring our history topic to life.

Our day began in the Roman bathhouse, where the children were fascinated (but mainly grossed out!) to learn how Romans used olive oil and metal scrapers instead of soap to clean themselves—sometimes flicking the dirt at people they didn't like! We also discovered the social nature of Roman public toilets, where people met to chat. We all agreed that no one wanted to be last in line for the communal "pooh stick!"

Next, we visited the artillery room, where everyone was signed up to the Roman Army for a 25-year service. Some even got to try on heavy soldier armour.

The highlight of the day was learning about Roman battle formations. The children formed an impenetrable shield wall, and Miss Cooper alongside our brave parent helpers tried their best to infiltrate the armour—but Year 4 held strong!

To finish the day, we marched proudly through the streets of Chester, loudly chanting "Sin, Sin, Sin, Dex, Sin!" (Left, Left, Left, Right, Left!) just like real soldiers.

On Thursday afternoon, our year 6 class had the wonderful Eleanor from Nature Park leading Forest school. This session was based on identifying the varieties of grass we have in our grounds. The children loved the activities and were able to name the different types of grass we have and also lots of plants and bushes names too. They also now know that we have a broadleaf woodland area! A huge thank you to Eleanor from Nature Park for coming into our school to share some amazing facts about the grounds we learn and play in. On Tuesday, the children who take piano lessons were able to share their newly taught skills with their family and friends during a piano recital arranged by our music lead, Mrs Elkin. Tatyana, our piano teacher, has been working hard to teach this year and was eager to share how much they have all progressed. From the enjoyment of the audience, it is safe to say that they thoroughly enjoyed listening to the children. Well done to everyone who took part in this and to everyone who came along to make this recital lovely. #BeYourselfAlways  #DoWhatMattersMost  

On Wednesday, our key stage 2 children had the wonderful opportunity to take part in some basic first aid training so that they know the skills to help if ever needed. This is a great life skill and the children showed such a great interest and practised these skills with enthusiasm and enjoyment. 

Abbey House Dental came to talk to our children in Reception and Nursery about looking after their teeth and how they need to brush their teeth for two minutes, what food and drinks are good for their teeth, and then the children even got to clean some teeth. After that, they gave the children a goody bag with a toothbrush, toothpaste and a timer in it. The children had a great time taking part in these activities.
