A wonderful last Forest School today for Year 1 in the Autumn sunshine.
Year 1 loved Mrs William's Colour Challenge activity! The children had to collect really tiny pieces of natural materials on sticky cards. Everyone enjoyed this activity with lots of sharing, taking turns and helping each other. So lovely to see! Well done Year 1. #SucceedTogether

On Thursday, we hosted our annual Cake and Coffee morning to raise vital funds for our local hospice – The Dougie Mac. The Douglas MacMillan does incredible work providing exceptional care and support to patients and families in our local community, and we wanted to do our part to help out. And we most certainly did! The generosity was wonderful, from donations of sweet treats to the money given at the event. We raised a huge £497.62!
We are thrilled to be passing this money to The Dougie Mac this morning – they are going to be so pleased.

On Thursday, we welcomed firefighters into our school for a workshop on staying safe on our roads and what to do to stay safe if there was ever a fire. They also shared with the children what they do in their job. The children enjoyed hearing all the amazing things they did and had lots of great questions to ask too.
The children got a tour of a fire engine and even got to squirt water from the hose! They were delighted.
Ralphie in Year1 said, "I squirted Mark the firefighter, it was so funny!"
"It was the most exciting day," said Scarlett in Year 1.

It is so good to be back and learning together after the summer break. All the children have come back eager to learn with their new teacher. After a full school week, it is safe to say that the children have thoroughly enjoyed their new classes. Smiles everywhere!

On Tuesday it was time to reward the children in team - Wales!
A firm favourite returned to give Team Wales an end-of-term treat for getting the most team points. The animal man brought in some amazing rescue animals to show the children and shared his vast knowledge. Our children were amazing throughout!
He said that they were the most confident group of children he has had for a while as there were so many children volunteering to hold and feel the animals. Some of them less appealing than others!
What a special treat Wales! Keep working hard in the next term. #SucceedTogether 
On Monday, we welcomed our families in to share the great work that their children had done throughout this academic year. As the weather was still very warm, everyone took their work outside to find a comfortable spot on our fields. It was fantastic to see so many smiles of pride from both children sharing their achievements and parents seeing everything their children had completed this year. Thank you to everyone who was able to attend this special afternoon.

On Monday, year 5 and 6 had the opportunity to take part in our busiest annual careers fair yet! We had an abundance of companies with a huge variety of jobs in the hall showing the children the choices they have in the world of work! All of the companies that came to join us were very impressed by the level of questioning the children made.
One company member said, "Some of the in-depth questions made us reflect on the key skills needed for the job."

I really enjoyed doing it. I got to find out about lots of different jobs I had never heard about. There were jobs like: a scientist/engineer, Regent theatre/Victoria Hall Creative Learning Officer and Co-op Funeral care. I am so happy and grateful for this experience. Thank you

It was such a great experience for us, it really opened my eyes to what career choices were out there. They were all so amazing and super kind. There were jobs from scientists and an occupational therapist. We are all really grateful and we wish we could do it again!

On Friday, our children who have been learning how to play a brass instrument had the chance to show off their progress this year in a concert celebrating all things brass! The players stood in front of the whole school and their parents and carers to share their skills. They were all super confident and the enjoyment of playing these instruments was very clear. On Wednesday, our Year 3 children went on a trip to Hanley's Potteries Museum. We had a fantastic day and the children really enjoyed it! We spent the morning exploring different rocks and their uses as well as investigating the different rocks to see how they absorbed water.
In the afternoon we watched a film about Rita Baines who flew planes during WW2, including a Spitfire! We then got to see a Spitfire!

Oliver! It was this year's summer show and the KS2 performance was absolutely amazing. After a quick change in dates due to the England match, the cast did a matinée and an evening show on the same day! The energy was never ending and if the children were feeling tired, then they didn't show it! Such great stage presence throughout with some very talented acting and singing. From the applause and cheers of the audience, the show was truly enjoyed.
